I AM GOING TO DAI public
The courses at DAI public are based on the wish of young artists and designers to use public space (in the broadest sense of the word, including the virtual) as a stage for interdisciplinary cooperation. The working method they choose can be autonomous as well as more practically oriented.
DAI public offers talented young artists, designers and sound artists who are positively interested in exploring public space (with whatever means they choose) a two-year course in which practice and theory continually converge during projects in collaboration with architects, landscape architects, scientists, composers and writers. Furthermore, artists and designers with different practical backgrounds will visit the studios of individual students, so that they can gain the necessary experience by confronting their personal convictions with those of gifted colleagues.
It is essential to reflect on the meaning of the terms that the different users of the public domain employ in order to gain a better understanding and command of personal ideas and actions, which in turn makes it possible to realise works within specific contexts outside the studio. The specific vocabulary of architects and urban planners will also be discussed. The students at DAI public will be challenged to explore every possible aspect of public space using their senses, critical sense, empathy, know-how, fantasy, intuition, and curiosity.
